jio — curated things to do in Singapore

Privacy

Last updated 24 September 2026

jio is a small independent project in Singapore that picks the week's best events. It has no accounts, shows no ads, doesn't sell or share your data, and doesn't track you across other apps or websites. This page covers the website, the Thursday email and the iOS app.

What we collect

  • Your email address, only if you subscribe to the Thursday email. We store it with the date you subscribed, and keep a record of each email we send you (whether it was delivered) so we can fix delivery problems. If an email to you bounces for good or is reported as spam, our email provider tells us, and we note that and stop emailing the address.
  • A push token, only if you turn on notifications in the iOS app. It's a random identifier from Apple that lets us send the Thursday list and, if you choose, heads-up alerts. We store it with your notification choices and the app version. It isn't linked to your name or email address.
  • Anonymous usage statistics on the website, through Vercel Web Analytics: page views (including which week's email a visit came from) and which event and restaurant links get clicked, counted without cookies and without identifying you.
  • Technical logs. Like any website, our hosting keeps short-lived request logs (such as IP address and time) for security and debugging. To stop abuse of the sign-up form, we also count requests per IP address for about a day.

The iOS app has no analytics or advertising code. The copy of the week it keeps for offline use stays on your phone. If you've allowed it in iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports with us.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell, rent or trade personal data.
  • We don't show ads or build advertising profiles.
  • We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Who handles it for us

We use a few service providers, each only for the job described:

  • Vercel: hosting the website and API, request logs, and the anonymous statistics.
  • Turso: the database that stores subscriptions and push tokens.
  • Resend: delivering the emails.
  • Expo and Apple: delivering push notifications to your iPhone.

These providers may process data outside Singapore, for example in the United States.

How long we keep it

  • Your email address stays while you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe (or it bounces or is reported as spam) we stop emailing you straight away and keep the address marked that way, so you're never emailed by mistake. Ask us and we'll delete it completely, along with its delivery records.
  • Push tokens stay while notifications are on. When Apple tells us a token no longer works (for example after you delete the app), we stop using it.
  • Rate-limiting counts are discarded after about a day.

Your choices

  • Every jio email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Turn notifications off in the app's Settings screen, or in iOS Settings.
  • To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, contact us by hello@jiosg.app. We'll reply within 30 days.

Children

jio isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
